So what? I am a rockstar, I got my rock moves

March 31, 2009 · 7 Comments

Ok, I’m not really a rockstar.  But I think it’s ironic that P!nk has this song “Rockstar” and I have pink hair and I am so rockstar…  After the Festival of Colors the pink wouldn’t come out of my hair!!  Just thought I’d show y’all what I’m ‘rockin’ now:

Actually I’ve had some pretty good feedback about the pink.  Three guys yesterday told me it was pretty hott and that I should think about making it a permanent change.  Then a girl from my program told me she’d go with me to the salon and tell them exactly how to do it so it looks good, thanks Cheyn.  What do you think Mom?  Can I keep it?!

soooo close!

School is almost out! I have soo much to do before the end of the semester, but I think I can do it all!  If I can count correctly, I have 12 more days of class until they are over!!  And, I only have 1 or 2 finals after the last day of class so the semester and my college career (I say career because I have become a professional student) is ALMOST OVER!!  I’m a little bit in denial that I am moving on and that I won’t be living in Provo forever, but I’m also excited to move on to the next thing whatever and wherever that is!

I asked the amazing and talented Jake Spurlock to take a picture of me to put in graduation announcements (which are so expensive by the way!) and he lived up to every expectation I had of his ability!  He also took the family pictures we have from Thanksgiving in Arizona.  Here’s a graduation pictures of yours truly for your enjoyment:

I’m still not sure what I’m doing after graduation, but that day is soon approaching, so I’ll let you know in a month when I graduate :)

I also decided that I’m not done with my Provo experience because there are a few things I have yet to do.  One of those things was go to the Festival of Colors, which was more than I had imagined!  It’s at an Indian temple in Spanish Fork and if I understand right it’s a celebration of good over evil because of a historical event where of doing so.  I went with 2 friends and we bought a few bags of very colorful chalk and waited for the right moment to break open our bags and get into a chalk fight.  Sound crazy?  It was!!  The first throw on me went straight to my face and clumped in my eye and my mouth!  There was so much chalk in my eye that I could feel the powder in there, and my eye started watering so I couldn’t see to throw some chalk back!  The chalk ended up dying my contact pink, which I thought was pretty cool!  While I was trying to get my second bag open, Torey (my friend) said that the chalk seemed to be in her mouth.  The second after she said that I got my bag open and tried to throw it on her and half the bag ended up in her mouth!  Haha, sorry Torey ;)   We timed everything just right to get there in time and leave in time to miss all the traffic.  Some friends of mine left 15 minutes after and didn’t make it!  And another friend left 10 minutes after we did and got stuck behind a huge accident!

On that note, here are some pictures to show the fun:

Even after 2 showers half of my hair is STILL PINK!!  I also dyed our shower pink… oops!  I hope that comes out before management finds out!

back to life, back to reality

March 10, 2009 · 2 Comments

So I’ve had the best few weeks, seriously!  I’ll start at the very beginning.  I’m not sure where that is though.  BUT, the most exciting news is the cute little nephew that we welcomed 2 weeks ago!  Mr. Rushton Ray Spurlock (can’t you just hear a cute little kid with a speech impediment saying Wushton, I can and I love it!) was born February 22, 2009.  If I give you all the measurements they’ll be wrong, so I’ll just post a picture.  Seriously, he’s a cute baby.  And for all of you that believe that babies can’t be cute, you’ve never held or seen Rushton!  While my mom was in town helping Rushton, Melissa and Jake she called him every cute nickname: babykins, pumpkin, babycakes, munchkin, Rushman, I probably made up a few of those myself.  Either way, everything about him is perfect.  Nieces and nephews are the best because 1. I’m related to them and I can claim that I have the same genes they do 2. they aren’t mine so when they cry I hand them to the parentals 3. they are infinitely more adorable when you’re related to them (in a totally unbiased way)!

Enough blabbing, here’s Rushton!  Welcome to the world cute Rushton, I wish you a happy and prosperous life!

And if you’re like me and can’t get enough of him, you can see more pictures of him on Jake’s flickr account.

This little bundle of joy is the reason that I’ve had a hard time concentrating on school (except that I’ve had senioritis for a while, I don’t know which one is more of a factor).  Instead I got to go hang out with my mother and Melissa and Jake.  However!  Since last time I worte something about my life I have: ordered a cap and gown, ordered graduation announcements, bought skinny jeans (more like straight leg jeans), tried looking for a job for the summer and given up, and been to the Draper Temple!  I’ve also been hanging out with my really good friend Emiline helping her plan her wedding, except I think I’m more there for comic relief.  But she picked out an amazing dress, and she is a beautiful bride already!  I’m pretty juiced to be one of her bride’s maids!  Also, my bff Erin had a baby (Julia) and I went to her baby’s blessing last week.  The last time I saw her family was when she got married 3ish years ago, but every time I am around them I love them more!

If any of you are wondering what I’m doing after graduation, I am too.  I won’t find out until around finals.  I might be doing an internship, I might not.  When I figure it out I’ll let the world know.  The economy seems to be affecting everything, so I might be going with Plan K.

And on a closing note, here’s one of my newfound favorite SNL skits (it’s clean, I promise!)

My By Myself

Also, my newfound favorite songs:

Michael Buble – Save the Last Dance For Me

Michael Buble – Everything
